STUDENTS at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland, have dedicated Rag Week to Adam's Appeal, supporting brave Cornish nine-year old Adam Humphreys, nephew of one of the Duchy College staff, who is suffering from an aggressive brain tumour. The week raised nearly £650.

The launch event was a treasure hunt around the fields and woods of the college campus.

Organisers, all from the Equine department, included Ellen Forster, Holly Greenaway, Sarah Fliege, Stacey Brown, Senara Fagan and Kerenza Angove were highly visible around campus in pink rabbit costumes, while other students were also encouraged to dress up or have their faces painted.

Challenges en route for the teams taking part included an obstacle course, a water jump, apple bobbing and finding sweets hidden in flour or beans. The event was sponsored by Stoke Climsland Post Office and General Stores.

Other fundraising activities included an endurance night, in which students were faced with challenges including eating raw eggs, garlic, lemons covered in coffee powder and chillies.

The highlights included a staff/student football match, climbing, 'foosball' and table tennis competitions, a beach party disco, a hypnotist, stocks with wet sponges and the scary 'Hit Squad.'

Organised by Sharrie Humphreys, the Hit Squad were anonymous students heavily disguised in black or white suits with masks and sunglasses, paid to be sent on secret assignments to drench hapless victims with water. Luckily this happened in glorious weather all week.

Dave Linnell, Principal of Cornwall College, said: "Staff and students at Duchy College have shown what a great team they are and they have had a great time together to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause. Thanks go to all who took part, including Warden Ciaran Ryder and Sharrie Humphreys."
