A NEW drop off point for items to be donated to Beauty Bank has been installed in Holsworthy Library.
This will sit alongside the library’s three other drop off points, which have proved popular so far.
Beauty Bank is a not-for-profit organisation that works in a similar way to Food Banks but collects and distributes essential personal care and beauty items. The items are re-packaged and will be distributed by the local Food Bank.
Beauty Banks believe clean hair, freshly washed skin, deodorant and clean teeth is a right, not a privilege. It is not just basic daily essentials they believe are necessary — beauty items such as face wash, razors and shaving cream and moisturiser can also support those in crisis who are looking for a job, who are in or going back into education, or simply to instill some self-confidence and dignity.
Mary Weblin, library staff member, said: “We are really pleased to be a Beauty Bank collection point at Holsworthy Library. Our existing collection points — Food Bank, stamps and spectacles for the Lions Club and a pen recycling point — are all well supported by our very generous and caring customers.
“Items donated to the Beauty Bank in Holsworthy will be collected and distributed by the local Food Bank. The top five toiletry items they need at the moment are sanitary towels, toothpaste, soap, shampoo and deodorant.”
To donate pop in to the Library during its opening hours.
