LAUNCESTON driving instructor, Colin Mullis, has organised a charity raffle event, which will run through April until the end of May, in aid of Cornwall Air Ambulance and the memory of his late father, Anthony Mullis.

Mr Mullis’ father, Anthony, sadly passed away nearly two months ago, and was always keen to get involved with charities and fundraising.

Cornwall Air Ambulance was a charity very close to Anthony Mullis’ heart, following an incident in 2014 where he, his wife and Colin were involved in a road traffic accident.

The accident was serious enough to call the crew from the Cornwall Air Ambulance out, as Mrs Mullis had sustained serious injuries.

The charity raffle will run through April until May 31, where a winner will be announced and 75% of the proceedings will go to Cornwall Air Ambulance.

The winner of the raffle will receive 40 hours of driving tuition lessons with Colin Mullis himself, which adds up to around £1,000 worth of lessons, as well as a pass plus course, which can be undertaken once the individual has passed their driving test. This prize is available to use up until the end of 2016.

Mr Mullis told the Post: “Dad did a lot for charity over the years, but once he got ill, he wasn’t able to anymore. My current situation is still having a big affect on me, and with everything that’s happened in my life recently, I have been inspired to give something back to the community.

“It really is a small stone in the ocean, and for me, it’s not about the money, it’s all about giving something back.”

Mr Mullis is hoping to raise £1,000 through the raffle, depending on how many people get involved. He is hoping the support from the community will be reflected in the takings, so that as much money as possible can be donated to the Cornwall Air Ambulance charity, as well as paying a powerful tribute to his generous father.

Mr Mullis recently gathered a collection of Easter treats for the children and staff of Derriford Hospital’s children’s ward, and Little Harbour children’s hospice.

But his charitable efforts don’t stop there. After the charity raffle in May, Mr Mullis plans to do more fundraising in July, later on in the year for Children in Need, and in December for Children’s Hospice, following his father’s footsteps into raising as much money and awareness as possible for those that need it.

Raffle tickets are £10 a ticket, and are available from Mr Mullis and his family. Visit his Facebook page, Colin Mullis – School of Motoring for more details. To donate to the cause, visit his Just Giving page — www.justgiving.com/Colin-Mullis1

The winner will be picked on May 31, at 6pm.
