A MURAL at a community recycling project, which saw Forest artist Doug Eaton working with staff and volunteers, has been finished.

Work is soon to start on a second mural at Forest Upcycling which is based in the former King's Head pub in the centre of Coleford.

The mural is based on a photograph of woodland at Lightmoor near Cinderford.

Among those who worked on the mural was Josh Boocock who has worked at the project for six months.

He said: "I think it's really beautiful."

The second mural will be based on a view of Meadowcliff Ponds at Steam Mills which is within the controversial Northern Quarter.

Doug said: "It will be our silent protest (about the development)."

Forest Upcycling reclaims items such as furniture that would be headed for landfill and trains young people who work with craftsmen.

Doug said: "They're doing a cracking job here and it's been good working with them. The murals help brighten up the place."

He is currently working on a number of projects and exhibitions including the Dean Open Studios in July and August which will see him working at the Garden Cafe in Lydbrook.
