THE team at Launceston foodbank want to encourage those who are in crisis to come forward and utilise this great community service.

Yvonne King, Launceston foodbank project manager, said: “Launceston foodbank is here in our community to help any person who is in crisis. This can be because of low income, sickness, redundancy, relationship breakdown and so on; no two people are the same and crisis comes to many and sometimes very quickly. Besides providing four days of food per person per household, we also have many agencies and groups we can signpost people to so they can receive the advice they need to help them climb out of the crisis they are in. There is no time limit on the support we give.

“Besides food we can also provide, toiletries, sanitary items, cleaning products, nappies, baby milk and baby food as well as bedding, crockery and clothing for those in extreme crisis such as homelessness.

“To acknowledge you are in crisis takes courage and we never under estimate the courage it takes people to come to us for help; every piece of information is dealt with in the strictest of confidence; we do not judge and only need basic information to use only for statistics to help us see where help is most needed, are there trends occurring in the area and to enable the Trussell Trust to lobby politicians for more assistance for the poorer members in our society.”

She added: “Please don’t feel ashamed; please ring us on 01566 779550, message us via our Facebook page or email us at [email protected].”
