AS a result of the destruction of one park building and damage by fire of others in Lamb Park, Kilkhampton about three years ago, a Partnership was developed between the Kilkhampton Parish Council as the land owners and Kilkhampton Football Club as major park users.
The aims and objectives of the partnership being to provide new purpose built sports facilities for all park users in place of the tired old buildings that remain, which are not fit for the purpose required of them.
Various other clubs in the village have already donated sums of money to assist this scheme including the Gardeners Club, a Big Breakfast at The Grenville Rooms and the Football Club themselves who have organised dances and Golf Days.
Rollo McGrath, Chairman of the Parish Council, Clive Vanstone, Past Chairman and Keith Taylor, Clerk to the Council were invited to attend the AGM of the Cornwall County Playing Field Association at Bodmin to receive from Lady Mary Holborow, Lord Lieutenant for Cornwall, a cheque for £2,000.00 to assist in this ambitious regeneration project.
It is hoped that the receipt of this cheque from this prestigious organisation, will encourage other grant providers to appreciate the merit of this scheme and a planning application should soon be placed before the Planning Department. If approved, work could start sometime this winter.
