HOLSWORTHY Community College has recently received a new defibrillator, and is now available for use.

Donated by a generous benefactor, who wishes to remain anonymous, the defibrillator is situated on the external wall of the school Reception area.

Having taken advice from the ambulance service, the defibrillator is housed in a heated cabinet to ensure that the unit, pads and battery are kept in optimum condition at all times. Furthermore, this cabinet is alarmed and in clear view of a CCTV camera.

The principal and staff have expressed their appreciation and sincere thanks for the donation of this life-saving piece of equipment.

The school is delighted that the new defibrillator will now be accessible to the whole community.

A defibrillator delivers an electrical current through the chest which aims to shock the heart back into a normal rhythm allowing it to pump again. Rapid response using the equipment can significantly improve the quality of life of a person.
