WHO let the dogs out at Holsworthy Show this year? There was a fantastic turn-out to the show’s ever popular family dog show with a variety of breeds, sizes and ages coming along to join in the fun.

Despite the damp weather the fun dog show was well attended at the Holsworthy and Stratton Agricultural Show.

The atmosphere was good and the entries were up on last year.

The judge for this year’s show was Mrs Alison Passmore, from Torrington, who placed the ‘Best in Show’ exhibit from the junior handlers class. The winners were Isaac Algar and his Spaniel.

The reserve ‘Best in Show’ was awarded to Mr A Madge with his Cairn Terrier, Macy, winner of the any variety sporting class.

With an entry fee of 50p, all going to charity, and prizes for up to fourth place and best in show and reserve best in show, many visitors were enticed to join in the fun.

Among those who entered were ‘Saria’ and her human Tao Toms, from Launceston.

They entered the ‘Best Bitch’ section of the competition and were very pleased to come second as this was Saria’s first ever dog show.

Her human, Tao Toms said: “This was Saria’s first ever dog show. I didn’t plan on entering but my sisters persuaded me to give it a go.

“I did enjoy it because Saria loves attention and I love her receiving attention, so this was an awesome opportunity to show my beautiful baby off!

“I’m not sure if we’ll be entering more. If we do, it’ll only be small, ‘fun’ dog shows like the one at the Holsworthy Show.

“I was super happy about us coming 2nd. I think she did great for her first time and it was awesome. I felt so proud of her.”
