JOINING the Holsworthy Walk and Talk Group in Stanhope Park recently was Dr David Hillebrandt, who expressed his thanks to the group for their donation of £50 in support of BASICS Devon (the British Association for Immediate Care).

Dr Hillebrandt gave the group an interesting overview of the work carried out by BASICS Devon, explaining that he is one of a team of experienced doctors and other highly trained medical professionals working in a voluntary capacity providing emergency call out cover as tasked by South Western Ambulance Services control room.

BASICS Devon medical team is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week attending road traffic collisions, heart attacks and many other medical emergencies giving immediate critical care, which can make all the difference to a patient’s chance of survival.
