A WINDOW to the Old Bank building in Camelford has been smashed over the weekend, to the disappointment of the trustees and members of the community project.

On Sunday morning, members of the project were horrified to be met with a smashed window of the Old Bank building, thought to be created at some point during the evening of the night before.

Town councillor Claire Hewlett, a trustee of the Old Bank project, said: “We were very disappointed that the window was smashed. As you can see from the Facebook comments, there is general disgust that someone would do this.

“We’re currently waiting for a couple of quotes to come in for replacement of the glass. We don’t have much cash, so we’ll have to do a bit more fundraising. It’s really annoying as it diverts money from what the Old Bank is really about, which is providing a community facility.”

On the Old Bank’s Facebook page, local supporters of the project were evidently disgusted with the vandalism.

One person said: “Disgusting. Shame they can’t put their energy into helping instead of hindering.”

The incident has been reported to Camelford Police.
