In the next three months the two television transmitters which serve the Holsworthy area will each switch to

digital in two stages.

The Huntshaw Cross transmitter near Torrington will start the switch on Wednesday, July 1 when BBC Two will go to digital and some new digital channels will become available. On Wednesday, July 29 all the remaining

analogue channels will switch to digital and the remaining digital channels will become available. This means that if you haven't switched you will lose your TV service and if you have Freeview, BT Vision or Top-Up TV you will need to re-tune your equipment.

Similarly the Caradon Hill transmitter will switch in two stages on Wednesday, August 12 and Wednesday, September 9.

For anyone uncertain about any aspect of the imminent digital television switchover, there will be a drop-in advice session next Monday (June 8) between 1pm and 4pm in Holsworthy Memorial Hall.

For people aged 75 or over there is a digital help scheme which can do everything necessary for £40, including supply of all equipment, installation and advice/tutorials on usage. The service is free for anyone on income-based benefits. The contact number is 0800 408 5902.
