IN Bridgerule a couple have just celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

Marion and Ron Abbott were married at Whitstone chapel 60 years ago on September 12, and unusually Marion’s maiden name was Abbott and therefore didn’t change after their marriage.

Marion and Ron’s first home together was in Bridgerule and moving house just once in their lives they are still living here in the village. They have three children — Gary, Linda and Trevor and now proudly have six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Both Marion and Ron have always been involved with village activities — Ron with the men’s skittle team and he played football for the village and Marion was a member of the Ladies’ skittle team for many years, she enjoys attending the Methodist Chapel and is also a member of the village choir, the Tamarside Singers.

The couple celebrated their very special anniversary with family and friends at the Falcon Hotel in Bude — a truly lovely evening with family photos projected onto a screen as a lovely reminder of their life together.
