DEVELOPMENTS proposed for the former Holsworthy Showground site have been refused 'for now.'

On November 4, at the Holsworthy Town Council meeting, Cllr Brian Harris explained that the possible developments including 150 affordable houses, a sports pitch, changing rooms and a skate park, on the old Holsworthy Showground site had been refused by Torridge District Council.

Reasons for the refusal included, Holsworthy having an insufficient sewerage capacity (with there being no plans for an upgrade), there was an absence to meet the education requirements and inadequate traffic calming measures on Trewyn Road.

Cllr Richard Brown said: "It can still be approved and we need to be prepared because the door is still open."
