AN application has been submitted by developer Wainhomes seeking permission for up to 37 dwellings at Five Lanes.
The Post reported in September that Wainhomes had withdrawn an application for 50 homes on the site at land off the existing Wainhomes Fairfield Park estate.
In documents submitted to Cornwall Council, Wainhomes state that 33% of the dwellings would be affordable housing, and that the proposal includes a local area
of play.
Wainhomes, which had sought the public’s comments when its plans were on show at Altarnun Village Hall in March, said the layout in the new application had been altered ‘with public comments in mind’. At the time, concerns expressed included additional traffic, drainage strategy and visual impact.
At the November parish council meeting, following a public meeting on the application, councillors considered the scheme.
There was a discussion of many points, including the parish council’s view that there is no demand for an affordable housing development on another exception site, concerns on the handling of foul water/sewage, traffic management and road safety.
Councillors also expressed disappointment that the multi-use games area, the school user pedestrian access and the temporary builder’s access to the south of the site during construction, all included in the earlier application previously withdrawn, had been lost in the current proposals.
Councillors decided they would oppose the application.
The final decision on the planning application rests with Cornwall Council.
