ALTARNUN girl Gemma Brown, 25, has recently released her debut CD entitled My Way on cornet, with all proceeds raised going to Launceston Day Centre.

Gemma has physical disabilities on her right side, learning difficulties, is partially sighted and cannot read noteable music — but she was determined to make the CD.

Ann Brown, Gemma's mother, is secretary of Launceston Town Band. Since Gemma was 7-years-old, she has wanted to play the cornet alongside her — Ann also plays cornet.

Gemma chose the instrument as she can hold it with one hand. Due to her difficulties she has had to learn to play left-handed over the bell tube, rather than the conventional right-handed way, but her

determination has made her succeed.
