A SIX-member sub-committee of Bovey Tracey Town Council is to decide a draft design brief for a new community building on the site of the Old Thatched Inn in Station Road.

The shell of the former pub, which was destroyed by fire in 2008, was bought by the council for £95,000 in 2011 to rebuild as a community building.

It brought repeated protests from residents at the then projected costs of £500,000.
