A YEOLMBRIDGE man said he is ‘delighted’ his company has bought the ‘View From’ series of newspapers and Pulman’s Weekly News.
Last week the Post reported Duncan Williams, who is a commercial development consultant with News Group Ltd, runs Dorset-based marketing service the Poole Post, and is a director of Vibe Marketing, had set up a crowdfunding campaign to try and save the View From series of recently closed weekly papers, which serves towns in Dorset, Devon and Somerset.
He wanted to try and raise £85,000 by March 3 through crowdfunding.
But last week, Mr Williams met with Truro City Football Club chairman Peter Masters, previous owner of the View From series.
Mr Williams told the Post: “My company has bought the View newsgroup and the very old Pulman’s Weekly News. I’m delighted.”
The crowdfunder page has subsequently been taken down temporarily, but Mr Williams said he would be very interested in looking into a community ownership or shareholder scheme.
When the View From series ceased publication there were around 20 redundancies. There will now be an accountant’s audit before any long-term decisions are made.
