AFTER admitting three shoplifting offences, a 25-year-old Delabole man was given a suspended prison sentence by Bodmin Magistrates on November 5.
Mr Benjamin Joseph Gordon, of Rendle Street, Delabole, pleaded guilty to stealing two bottles of Calpol and a bottle of lager to the value of £7.49 from the Co-op, St Mary's Road, Bodmin, on September 19; stealing a quanitity of electrical goods and food, including a Navman satellite navigation system and two mobile phones to the value of £195.88 from J Sainsbury, Bodmin, on October 16, and stealing six DVDs and Playstation games to the value of £130, from Asda, Bodmin, on November 1.
Mr Gordon was commited to prison for a total of 56 days, suspended for a year.
The magistrates gave the reason as "wilful and persistent failure to comply with the requirements of a community order." The reason for custody was that two offences were committed while he was subject to a recently imposed community order and one offence while subject to the order prior to that.
During the supervision period of 12 months, Mr Gordon is required to be under curfew for one month, starting on November 5. He is to remain at his home address between 7pm and 7am daily.
No compensation or costs were ordered because of Mr Gordon's lack of income and the large amount already outstanding.
Four other offences were admitted and taken into consideration and the magistrates said his guilty pleas was taken into account when sentencing.
