Children at St Piran's Playschool, Delabole were the winners of this year's scarecrow competition, held in the village at the start of the carnival week. The children of St Piran's Playschool helped to make their 'Mary Mary Quite Contrary' scarecrow with the aid of Sue Woodward (staff) and Chantelle Binney (student). Twenty two scarecrows were entered in this year's competition with second prize going to Chris and Pauline Hore at Medrose with 'Delabole.Com' and third prize going to Paul and Kim Piper at Belmont Close with 'Witches'. The carnival committee were very pleased with the number of entries, and the very high standard meant the judges had a difficult task picking a winner.

Pictured above with their winning scarecrow are members of St Piran’s Playschool: Indie Salmon, Jem Smith, Jacob Wilson, Maisie Goodman, Adam Copping and William Carter.
