A TRAINING and defibrillator awareness session will be held in Holsworthy on Thursday, April 19, to ensure the public know where their nearest defibrillator is and how to use it.

Holsworthy, to date, has seven 24-hour access community use defibrillator machines. They are sited at the following locations: HATS theatre, Holsworthy Football Club, Jag Signs, Kivells market, Holsworthy Social Club, Royal Mail sorting office and The White Hart Hotel.

The session, which is free to join, will be run by South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) in conjunction with Holsworthy Town Council and will begin at 5.30pm in Holsworthy Sports Hall.

Residents are encouraged to join in with this session as knowing how to use the machines could ultimately save someone’s life one day.

The machines can deliver a lifesaving shock, which, used ahead of an ambulance attending the scene with guidance from a call handler, could improve the casualty’s chance of survival.
