RURAL crime in the Holsworthy area has

decreased over the past month, reported Sgt

Pennie Channing at the Holsworthy Town Council meeting on February 3.

She said that there had been a slight increase of crime in the town. Of the 16 crimes, these included: six assaults; two non-dwelling burglaries (including the one to the BT premises, previously reported in the 'Post'); a theft of petrol from a motor vehicle; one possession of cannabis; one internet fraud; one heating oil theft and a mobile phone theft from Holsworthy Leisure Centre.

Sgt Channing reported that the post box that had been set on fire in the Square was going to CID as there wasn't enough evidence.

Along with this, Sgt Channing explained that the case of internet fraud involved someone from Poland who, allegedly, had used a Holsworthy trading address.

It was also reported that there were quite a few road accidents in January.
