THE school councillors and head of PE, Mrs Deb Rosser, at Bude Infant School travelled to Wadebridge for the Healthy Schools annual celebration and awards.

There were congratulations as Deb Rosser came away with a ‘Scolly’ and was named ‘Inspirational Healthy Schools’ co-ordinator of the year’.

As part of the day the children, and adults, also made bread and pasta, danced, decorated natural objects and participated in many other activities — before witnessing the awards ceremony.

The ‘Healthy Schools’ committee presented Healthy School Awards and Healthy Schools Plus Awards along with presenting teachers, including Deb Rosser, with a special ‘Scolly’ award.

Scollies, or the Skolyow Yagh Kernow Awards, are presented annually to people who have made an outstanding contribution to wellbeing and Healthy Schools work over the last year.

They are a chance to nominate someone in a school who people feel deserves acknowledgment for going the extra mile —whether that be as a school cook, inspirational leader or a parent or governor making a difference.

Mrs Rosser was highly praised at the awards ceremony for her brilliant audit.

She has already started planning for her Healthy Schools Plus project and after praise for her work with the kitchen staff there are hopes of achieving the Food in Schools award in the near future.

On receiving her award Deb Rosser thanked the Healthy Schools Organisation for giving herself and the children such an amazing day.

She said: “We had a super, informative and fun day and my school councillors were so chuffed to collect their award on stage and be part of such a brilliant day.

“Thank you once again for all you guys are doing. The service and support you provide is totally amazing. Cornwall certainly is the place to be when it comes to Healthy Schools.”
