She said: "We are very much looking forward to welcoming the public along to celebrate the life of Violette, 70 years since she was executed.

"Violette was a wonderful girl who was imprisoned in Ravensbrück near Berlin and was later executed there. Her daughter, Tanya, plans to come along to celebrate her mother's life.

"We are appealing for members of Royal British Legion and standard bearers to meet in Wormelow at 1.30pm. There will also be several people giving short addresses and the Rev Mark Johnson will be taking a service."

Also intending to attend is actress Virginia McKenna who played Violette in the 1958 film Carve Her Name With Pride.
