PLANS for the erection of a windfarm at Davidstow and Otterham will be discussed by Cornwall Council's Planning Committee at a meeting in Camelford on August 11.
The three separate applications refer to: A proposal for 20 turbines at Davidstow; a proposal for four turbines at Otterham and a separate proposal for a single additional turbine, also at Otterham.
The council report stated that the applications should be considered both on their own merits and also in combination with each other.
Members of STINC (Stop Turbines in North Cornwall) are hopeful that officers will turn down the applications.
In referring to the Davidstow application, Caroline Bott, group secretary said: "The proposed Davidstow windfarm would be 20 turbines, 125.6m to the tip of the blade. For comparison, the tallest chimney at the Davidstow Creamery is 43m, and the turbines at Delabole are 50m to blade tip. This development would stand taller than Roughtor."
The Planning Committee report indicates that a recommendation has been made to refer the Davidstow application to the Strategic Planning Committee and refuse due to a number of factors, including the harmful impact on the landscape character of the area due to its size and scale and the adverse visual and also the cumulative impact when considering the application in association with the existing windfarms at Delabole and Cold Northcott.
The Otterham application seeks permission for the erection on a wind farm comprising four wind turbines at up to 71 metres to tip height, and other associated works.
A recommendation has been made to refer the application to the Strategic Planning Committee and approve the plans, subject to a number of conditions and legal agreements.
Approval has also been recommended for the third application at Otterham.
The final decision is expected to be made by the Plans Committee.
