PRIME Minister David Cameron has promised to return to the Royal Welsh Show - if he wins next month's general election.
The Conservative leader arrived at the show ground near Builth Wells to launch the party's Welsh manifesto.
The Llanelwedd showground sits at the heart of the Brecon and Radnorshire constituency, currently held by Liberal Democrat Roger Williams and a top Tory target.
Speaking to a small room at the showground pavilion, crammed with party supporters, a handful of its Welsh MPs and media, Mr Cameron recalled his visit to the Royal Welsh Show last July, and when he visited as opposition leader in 2008.
The PM listed a number of firsts for Wales he said his coalition government with the Lib Dems had achieved.
He then told the invited audience: "I was the first serving Prime Minister to visit the Royal Welsh Show, and I came here as leader of the opposition, and I've said if I'm re-elected Prime Minister I will be back here again this summer."
Mr Cameron said Brecon and Radnorshire is one of the seats which can help his Conservatives form a majority government after the election. He brushed aside a question about a potential coalition between his party and UKIP but claimed Labour would be 'held to ransom' by the SNP.
Labour has also said it is looking to win an overall majority and has ruled out a coalition with the SNP.
