ON Tuesday February 24, 71 Launceston Seniors took part in the 7th Winter League and Eclectic. Dull but dry, calm and mild weather, with the course in excellent condition, led to all prize winners being par or better with many players with the same scores losing on count back.
Division II results were very good and that group were introduced as "Our Real Golfers". Captain Robin announced that next week's competition would be the final round of the League and Eclectic, which probably means his imposed restriction to 7 clubs and no handicap revisions will also come to an end.
Inter-club Seniors matches start in March and Robin noted that members interest was such that individuals could expect only 60 per cent success when applying to play in a match, this was not true in the case of himself and Vice-Captain Gerald of course.
Some new names amongst the winners this week, including Dave Bundy who commented that his round had contained more long along the ground shots that he could ever remember.
