AT long last residents of Holsworthy can heave a sigh of relief as the infamous Chapel Street potholes are scheduled to be fixed.

Work on the A388 Chapel Street, Holsworthy will take place over night from Thursday, August 17, to Friday, August 18.

Mayor of Holsworthy, Jon Hutchings, thanked Cllr Barry Parsons for applying extra pressure to help get this matter resolved.

He said: “We have managed to bring the completion date for work forward. It was set to take place in November but we have managed to get it back to August, which is great and a long time coming.

“People will moan ‘why hasn’t it been done sooner’ but unfortunately there wasn’t a lot more we could do — Highways have very strict criteria and if a pothole/road doesn’t meet that it won’t get fixed. But, we have pushed for it and it is great that it will be sorted soon!”
