BOSSES at the National Showcaves Centre for Wales say they are stuck in the internet dark ages due to a slow connection.
Dan yr Ogof Caves, which also houses one of the world's largest collections of life size dinosaur models at Glyntawe, near Abercraf, has developed an app visitors can use on mobile phones or tablets to guide them around the attraction.
But Carl Shaw, a director at the Swansea Valley centre, said downloading on site is near impossible as its broadband speed of just 0.8 megabytes a second is too slow.
"People just get frustrated and find they can't download the app," said Mr Shaw: ""People who do come with it already downloaded and who can actually use it love the app."
He said the centre had invested in the app and an online ticket booking system as it had expected superfast fibre optic broadband to be available in the area from last December.
A spokesman for BT said a number of factors can influence when fibre optic broadband is available in an area but it is available in large parts of Abercraf due to its Superfast Cymru programme supported by the Welsh Government and EU funds.
The showcaves has contacted Brecon and Radnorshire Liberal Democrat AM Kirsty Williams, who has written to BT and the Welsh Government.
