A FAMILY friend who walked hundreds of miles to help a semi-paralysed little boy has been praised by the lad's grandparents.

In 11 days over the Easter period, Dan Storey walked from Nottingham to Bude to raise money for life-enhancing equipment for Thomas Singleton.

Grandma Margaret Heard said: "Dan is a friend of Thomas's parents and wanted to help, so he organized the sponsored walk.

"It was 263 miles and Thomas's grandfather Richard, along with relatives Joyce and Millie Heard and friend Nigel Warner walked the last bit from Bradworthy with him.

"It was a lovely thing for Dan to do and we are touched."
