A GOLDEN carpet of beautiful spring daffodils are in bloom, beneath the 100 English Oak trees of Launceston’s Millennium Avenue on the Link Road.

They stretch into the distance for over a mile, filling the air with perfume and colour, and providing a wonderful springtime display for everyone.

Margaret Wills, chairman of Launceston in Bloom said: “The Millennium Avenue, planted in 2000 to celebrate the millennium, is believed to be the only such millennium avenue in the whole of the UK and probably the world.”

There are 50 trees on either side of this mile-long straight road.

All the approach roads to the town have displays of the same Cornish daffodils, all hand planted by members and volunteers of the Launceston in Bloom Association.

Margaret added: “Come to Launceston. See the magnificence of so many daffodils, a spectacular springtime display.”
