THE Front Line Emergency Equipment Trust (FLEET), which has helped provide life-saving defibrillators in dozens of towns and villages across Cornwall, held its 29th annual cycle ride on Saturday, September 12.

Cyclists pedalled their way through Wadebridge, St Kew Highway, Trelill, St Teath, Delabole, Pendoggett, Rock and Padstow on a 25-mile route to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

The bikers enjoyed free refreshments at the Red Lion and Cornish Arms pubs before refuelling with a barbecue at the Gunvenna Holiday Park St Minver.

FLEET is a charity formed by Cornwall’s ambulance staff in 1990.

It has since raised more than £1-million to upgrade ambulances and install new facilities throughout Cornwall.

The installation of defibrillators has made it possible for people suffering from a heart attack to receive life-saving treatment within minutes giving paramedics vital extra time to reach remote locations.
