THE pavilions project in Holsworthy is picking up steam as the crowd funding initiative set up by local clubs reaches the halfway point — boosted by the new corporate sponsor, South West Steel Construction Ltd.

The joint initiative between Holsworthy Town Council and the cricket and youth football cubs of the town, aims to renovate the sports pavilion in Stanhope Park.

The Crowdfunder page was set up in order to raise extra funds to go towards the redevelopment of the ‘tired’ looking facilities with the aim of raising £5,000 by 8.26pm on December 6.

As the Post went to press the Crowdfunder page had reached just over £2,635 with 49 pledges.

If the target is not reached the money will be returned to all those who donated. To ensure the money needed is raised more pledges are needed.

There has already been a lot of local support. The Crowdfunder site offers the public an opportunity to show their support with a comment or message to the team.

Mayor of Holsworthy Cllr John Allen started off funding by personally donating £250. He commented on the site: “As Mayor of Holsworthy I am proud to be able to contribute to such a wonderful project for the town. I am sure our community will get behind this worthy cause as they have done so often in the past. Good luck to all involved.”

Cllr Ken Watson also commented: “Well done to all involved so far in this excellent project and I look forward to my first cup of tea there!”

The clubs are still providing extra incentives for the public to donate to the cause with a rewards scheme.

All contributors’ names will be included within a ‘book of sponsors’ to be retained within the pavilion for prosperity.

In addition, donating £5 will receive a thank you on social media.

Donating £25 will result in a ticket to an invitation-only party for sponsors and contributors to be held in the newly renovated pavilion. This will be a celebratory ‘must be seen at event’ to include a buffet dinner and refreshments.

Donating £100 secures an invitation as above as well as a name and family name on a sponsors’ board to be permanently displayed within the community hall.

Donating £250 gets an invitation as above, plus a company, family and individual name on the corporate sponsors’ board to be permanently displayed within the community hall.

The club has also offered a final category for those who wish to pledge an amount of £1,500 or higher. This will give the contributor the chance to be a main local benefactor with eight tickets to the invite-only party, plus a company name at the head of the corporate sponsors board titled as ‘Main Local Sponsor’.

Chairman of the town council parks committee, and the main driving force behind the project, Cllr Lyndon Piper, said: “The Crowdfunder has started off really well, we have had lots of contributions and the support from the local area has been fantastic.

“We really want to drive home that although the money will help in paying for the project, what we really want is as many pledges as possible to prove to funders like the FA and ECB that there is a lot of local support for the project.

“Even if people are only able to donate £5 it will still mean they are documenting their support and helping us towards the goal of gaining the necessary funding.

“We have also received donations that we will collect outside the Crowdfunder. Ian Ellacott, of South West Steel Construction Ltd in Holsworthy, has donated £1,500 and has become one of our main corporate sponsors. We also received £500 from the Holsworthy Social Club. It is all adding to the funding and has helped us reach about 50% of the funding we need from the Crowdfunder initiative. If anyone is able to spare £5 to just show support for our cause that would be fantastic.”

Any and all contributions are accepted graciously.
