WET, cold and washed out, attendees of the Party on the Pitch at Camelford FC's Trefrew Park, held on Friday, July 6 nonetheless had a great time at the annual fundraising event.
The miserable weather that has plagued the UK for what seems like an eternity was enough to deter many people from coming along, the attendance numbers down considerably on previous events.
That the 2012 Party on the Pitch was the seventh time the event has been held sadly bore no significance to the organisers' luck — the loss of funds notable, again in comparison to the proceedings of years gone by. The club has been working hard to raise money following its promotion to the South West Peninsula League last year, with improvements needed to meet the standard ground grading criteria. Grants from the Football Foundation and the FA National Sports Centre Trust have helped in the installation of new floodlights, but the club still needs to make significant investments.
