WHILE many were spoiling loved ones on Valentine's day the poetry group at St Endellion Barn were concentrating on other passions to fill their minds.
The group initially had to move to the church hall but this helped to set a different scene for creativity.
Helen Jagger, tutor, said: "It is a supportive group who are encouraged to share work with each other to get reactions from each other. There are no distractions so there is time."
Several lines were taken from poetry books and given to the group to inspire them. Normally 50 minutes is allowed to use the words and get the creative juices flowing. The words may encourage people to write something completely different. The exercise aims to warm up the brain.
The poetry group is not just about rhyme but also creativity and story forming. Members are encouraged to read their stories/ poems back to the group should they wish to. Other work from the previous month is also reviewed and discussed.
The group is normally well attended, meeting once a month on every second Saturday. The next date is March 14 at 10am at St Endellion Barn.
