THE 2019 Art and Craft Fayre at St Swithin’s Church, Launcells, which took place from Thursday, August 29 to Wednesday, September 4, has given members the opportunity to try out their new kitchen over the course of the seven days.
The volunteers have learned where everything goes in the cupboards, meals are being served quickly and efficiently and the teams are working smoothly.
The two people who run the kitchen — Jan Hunt and Dee Wynne-Morter — are so grateful for all the help that the volunteers have given, including their time, effort and contributions. The volunteers are from the congregation, from the local parish of Launcells and friends of the church. Much of the food served is made by the volunteers.
Various salads, quiches, soups, cakes and the scones for the Cornish cream teas were all brought along fresh from their kitchens.
A church spokesperson said: “We at St Swithin’s cannot emphasise enough how very, very grateful we are for all their work. Both those who work in the kitchen, serve at tables and those who brought their delicious food for serving to our grateful customers.
“The craft fayre is a chance for local craftsmen (and women) to showcase their skills and some lovely gifts can be found for our visitors. Some stall holders book their places from one year to the next. It is one of the largest craft fayres in the area and is known for being well-run and for serving good, home-made food.”
Their next Christmas Craft Fair is on from November 22-24, 10pm-5pm.
