MANY special occasions in the past 12 months have had to be cancelled because of the multiple lockdowns and the ongoing COVID restrictions.
However, one married couple managed to enjoy their special day of celebration when they marked their 60 year wedding anniversary.
Michael and Joan Bromell got married on Valentine’s Day 60 years ago at Kilkhampton Church.
Although the couple, who now live in Delabole, were unable to celebrate with all of their family, they managed to enjoy their special day.
Their daughter, Elaine Reynolds, who runs Flowers From Bruallen in Delabole, got in touch with Kingsley Bryant to ask if he had contacts at Kilkhampton Church. Being a local funeral director and resident of Kilkhampton, Kingsley was able to get in touch with Rev Teresa Folland who offered to give the pair a blessing and renew their vows on their anniversary day (Sunday).
To make the day even more special, Kingsley surprised the couple and picked them up from Delabole in a limousine to take them to the church in Kilkhampton.
Elaine expressed her thanks to both Kingsley and Rev Folland who made her parents’ day a special one. She said: “I can’t thank them both enough. It was such a surprise for them to be taken by a limousine to the church and for them to be given a blessing to mark their wonderful achievement.”
