DUCHY College once again held their open day and summer food festival at their Stoke Climsland campus recently and Webbers estate agents in Launceston decided to use this busy event as a platform in which to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.
Andrew Simpson, manager of the Webbers Launceston office attended the event, which has grown in size considerably in recent years and was held over the weekend of June 25 and 26.
Hilary Rhodes, a member of Andrew’s sales team arranged two competitions to help raise money. The competitions included a ‘guess the value of a home sold in Launceston in 2004.’
The answer was £340,000 and the overall winner was Mr Gorman of Golberdon, Callington.
The other light hearted competition was the ‘guess how many sweets in the jar’ with the winner enjoying 317 sherbets.
Andrew said: “We are very grateful to all that participated in helping raise money for his worthy cause. I believe that we must all know someone affected by breast cancer and therefore can see the chance to have a bit of fun and participate in raising money at the same time.
“As a local business Webbers raise lots of money for various charities every year and will continue to do so at forthcoming events this summer.”
