THE annual cream tea event at St Teath, organised to raise money for The Merlin MS Therapy Centre, at Hewaswater, near St Austell, was due to be held in the gardens of Pencarey recently, but had to be moved indoors because of the rain.

Instead of the backdrop of Rough Tor and Brown Willy, with the garden railway running both steam and electric engines and giving rides around the field, it was off to the dry comfort of the church hall.

There was good support from the community of St Teath and surrounding parishes; though organisers Lorraine and David Jasper felt that without the major attraction of the railway and engines running, the number of visitors was affected.
