THE Riding for the Disabled recently held a County Dressage Competition at Lakefield Equestrian Centre, near Camelford.

There were 33 competitors from all over the county who competed in Dressage, Tack and Turn-out and Handy Pony classes. There were both senior and junior competitors, the youngest being four-years-old.

Thanks have been extended to the three judges, Helene Hewitt, Jim Woods and Nicky Bowden, who were impressed by the high standard of the horses and riders turnout and performance.

Classes were sponsored by a number of local businesses and groups and thanks have been expressed for their support for this very worthwhile cause.

A spokesman said: "It was much appreciated, all the competitors were delighted with their rosettes. Some riders bought their own mounts and everyone else rode ponies and horses provided by Lakefield Equestrian Centre. A huge thank you must go to North Cornwall volunteers who spent much of Monday and Tuesday preparing twelve horses and ponies and three arenas for the competition. A fantastic day was had by all."

Lakefield Equestrian Centre is home to North Cornwall Riding for the Disabled as well as being a livery and riding stables.
