Bude area CATS (Community Action Through Sport) are now taking nominations from anyone who would like to see a young person in their club, community or school, recognised for positive volunteer action.

Last year, CATS, as a Cornish organisation, recognised over 600 young people in Cornwall and this year in Bude will be no exception.

They are asking for all community sports club, youth organisation, parish and school leaders to look at the young people aged five to nineteen who have made a positive difference in their club, organisation or community.

All too often there is negative coverage of young people, however there are those youngsters who are volunteering for others and doing great things. Is there someone who you think should be recognised for the good that they have been doing?

The type of recognition that CATS saw last year in Bude was truly inspirational. Young people of the BARC (Berries Avenue Regeneration Committee) dedicated to making their Berries Avenue community a better place to live; young people giving their time to coach sports to younger year groups; those young people who fundraise for other charities; youngsters who have contributed to educating others in beach safety skills and saving lives; those that have taken responsibility for helping run their community groups or even those who help monitor the school playground for safe and friendly play.

It all counts, and it all re-enforces the message that good behaviour in today's communities will reap reward for all.

The awards evening is being held on Wednesday, May 12 at the Park House Centre, Bude, and there is to be three sports celebrities who will be making the presentations.

It is hoped that you will nominate your young person today! Please email [email protected]">[email protected] or call 01288 357505 for further information.
