A WALK around the Ridgegrove area in Launceston was carried out by a number of councillors on Monday, May 23, to identify issues rasied by residents.
Cornwall Councillors Gemma Massey and Jade Farrignton (Lib Dem) and Launceston Town Councillor Val Bugden-Cawsey (Cons) met with Cornwall Council housing officer Ruth Harris and technical area officer Russell Leeton to complete the walk around assessment of Ridgegrove.
Concerned residents have raised issues to both the town council and Cornwall Council.
These include dangerous unsafe steps, broken fences, overgrown trees, dog fouling, litter, plus unkempt walkways.
Cllr Massey said: “Our priority will always be the safety of our local residents. Both in Ridgegrove and through the town as a whole.
“Clearly there are some key areas that need immediate attention and this meeting will ensure these matters are prioritised and work begins immediately. This is a real team effort from both councils, housing and highways, we need to come together to get things done.”
Cllr Farrington said: “Gemma is an extremely proactive new councillor and it is incredibly positive to see her pushing for these improvement works to be carried out in her ward,
“We will continue to work with Cornwall Housing and other local housing associations to ensure they do the best they can for Launceston despite their ever decreasing budgets.”
