THE allocation of the New Homes Bonus was discussed at the recent meeting of Launceston Town Council. The New Homes Bonus, which was introduced by the Government in April 2011, is money put aside by central government for local areas to provide them with assistance with the infrastructure following the construction of new homes in the area. Cllr Paul O'Brien said other counties had received money, which was then distributed to parishes in the area. However, as Cornwall now has a unitary authority, he asked whether the council allocates any of the money at a local level. He claimed that in three years, Cornwall Council had received more than £290million. For the full report, and a round up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
