CAMELFORD Town Councillors considered an application for the crown reduction of an ash tree, that is covered by a TPO (Tree Protection Order) at the May 16 meeting.

The application, by Jeremy Sharp, referred to a tree at 6 Daws Meadow, Camelford.

Cllr Andy Shaw noted that the trees are covered by TPOs, adding: “When they built that house one of them was damaged and was removed. It’s a fine tree. It encroaches a bit on his property. My personal opinion is it was there before he built the house, it should stay there.

“It could be a safety issue,” he added.

Cllr Claire Hewlett said: “Ash does grow like a weed.”

Cllr Shaw proposed no objection, but asked that it be noted the trees have TPOs and should be treated with respect.

Cllr Sue Elford seconded, and all councillors voted in favour.

The final decision is expected to be made by Cornwall Council.
