AT Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council meeting on November 2 Ken Carroll, Chairman, welcomed Mrs Vicky Shearman as a new Parish Councillor and Mrs Miranda Howrihane as the new Parish Clerk .
The Chairman also welcomed Barry Parsons, County Councillor, and Richard Brown, District Councillor, who gave reports on meetings with Torridge District Council Highways Department. They reported a backlog of works required amounting to £200M and concern was expressed at how priorities are afforded in the area. Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council is to write a letter of complaint regarding several roads within the parish requiring urgent maintenance work.
The meeting was advised by Torridge District Council that a review is to be activated to further improve the operations of the Council's planning department.
A report was received following a Biogas meeting. The meeting noted the conscientious approach being taken by Biogas and noted the complaints procedure in place appeared to be effective.
The meeting noted significant protestations had been received by the Highways Department concerning the proposed Pay & Display scheme which was being considered for Holsworthy Square. It appears that the campaign has been successful following the Council's decision to shelve the scheme.
Notices will be displayed inviting applications for grants to be received by the Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council. Notices will be displayed on noticeboards in Chilsworthy, in the Chilsworthy Newsletter and in the 'Holsworthy Post'. Ken Carroll, Chairman, laid a wreath at the
Remembrance Day service on behalf of the Parish Council. A letter of thanks is being sent to the British Legion for provision of wreaths at Anvil Corner and Staddon Cross.
All planning applications received for the period were considered and approved by the Parish Council.
The Parish Council have agreed to purchase the two red telephone boxes in Chilsworthy and Whimble Hill.
Invoices totalling £439.22 were considered and approved.
The next meeting will take place on December 14 at Chilsworthy Village Hall at 7.30pm.
