TINTAGEL Parish Council Chair and Vice-Chair Roger Wickett and Bob Flower signed the purchase agreement for the village's visitor centre at Sproulls in Bodmin on Tuesday, May 22.

The purchase of the centre, for £80,000 from Cornwall Council, represents 12 months of determined effort by the parish council, which saw it as a facility essential to the village's economy and tourism industry.

The council hopes to re-open the building as soon as possible, with the summer season underway, and appoint a manager, whilst councillors David Hodge, Terry Dangar, Mary Dyer, Max Roberts and town clerk Sue Moth will be responsible for overseeing operations for the time being.

Around 20 residents have already volunteered to help run the centre, and the parish council is welcoming more to help with its running. For more information, please contact 01840 770022.
