LAUNCESTON Town Councillors have decided to support a planning application to demolish a garage and build a home at Broad Park, St Stephens.
An earlier planning application for the same site — 36 Broad Park — that sought to build two dwellings, had not been supported by the town council’s planning committee.
The planning committee met at the Town Hall for its meeting last Thursday, December 1, and heard from Andy Paton of A J Design, who is the agent for the latest planning application.
Mr Paton said the original application to build two dwellings was withdrawn in July, ‘following concerns raised by the town council’.
He said on the newly submitted application that two parking spaces would be provided for the new property.
Committee chairman, Cllr Rob Tremain, said: “It looks better than last time. There’s off road parking, and one dwelling,” while Cllr Dave Gordon added: “I think the parking sways it.”
Councillors voted in favour of supporting the latest application. The decision on the application will be taken by Cornwall Council.
