COUNCILLORS of Camelford Town Council recently heard an update in regards to Camelford Hall.

At the August meeting of the town council, Cllr Shirley Goodman gave an update on Camelford Hall, after attending an AGM on July 20.

She explained that the hall committee received a letter from the plumber who had fitted the boiler.

The meeting also heard that the outside light is now working, and more tables and chairs have been made available.

Cllr Goodman told the meeting that the floor in the main hall has been an issue for the committee. She said: “The floor in the main hall has been a bit of a problem. I think it (the problem) is to do with the old concrete leveling, the layout when it was first laid.”

Cllr Goodman said that there will not be an increase in room rental, but that the committee is planning on coming to the council in the hope of a grant for a new baby changing unit.

Cllr Rob Rotchell, mayor, in regards to the grant, said: “They can’t have two grants in one year. We have standing orders. As a matter of principle, we can’t give two grants to the same organisation.”
