CAMELFORD Town Council have recently gone out to tender for the development of Phase 2 of the Old Cattle Market site.
Phase 1, the skatepark, was completed in summer 2018, and it is hoped, subject to successful grant applications, that work will start in June 2019 with completion by the summer holidays. Public consultation started at the winter festival in December, where people were invited to fill out a consultation document to find out what facilities people wanted to see developed next at the site. The town council also visited Sir James Smith’s Community School and Camelford Primary School to find out what facilities young people in the community would use. Ideas included a basketball court, parkour area, climbing wall, table tennis, a youth hub, café or shop and seating.
Companies wishing to find out more about the tender are asked to visit www.camelford-tc.gov.uk
Amanda Lash, deputy town clerk, said: “Following the successful completion of Phase 1, Camelford Town Council are now seeking a company to work with in order to deliver a unique recreational destination to attract people of all ages and abilities to the Old Cattle Market site.
“This is part of Camelford Town Council’s vision to regenerate Camelford. The tender deadline is March 1. Following receipt of designs, Camelford Town Council will complete another public consultation to get feedback on the designs.”
Work is also due to start on Phase 1 of the refurbishment of Enfield Park play area in February. This will see the installation of a multi-play boat, swings and wet-pour area.
