EIGHT years-worth of back-payments are to be made to a householder that allows use of their property for ‘Welcome to Bude’ sign.
The sign at the entrance to the town centre by the mini-roundabout has been in place since 2008, with the agreement made that Bude-Stratton Town Council would make a £30 payment each year to the owner.
However, after the initial sum of £30 was paid in 2007 for the following year’s usage, not one payment has been made since then.
The point was raised at the town council’s recreation committee meeting, held at the Parkhouse Centre last Thursday evening.
Committee chairman Cllr Frank Partridge proposed Bude-Stratton Town Council make the back-payments and continue to pay in the coming years — all voted in favour.
