LAUNCESTON Town Council is to continue to operate the Ambulance Hall — formerly the St John Ambulance Hall, on Westgate Street.
The town council took on ownership of the hall last July, when the former trustees retired and current trustees took over — they are the town mayor, deputy mayor, chair of the town council’s estates committee, the town clerk and the town council’s responsible financial officer.
At the meeting of the town council’s estates and properties committee on October 1, it was resolved ‘that the town council continue to operate the Ambulance Hall in its current capacity and officers explore the cost of improvements, to include internal decorating and bring back details to a future meeting. The costs for any works to be met by monies from the Hall Trust fund’.
